At just 24 years old, Jasper Miller and Fenn Nelson opened Higherground Brewing Co. in Hamilton, becoming the youngest brewery owners in Montana. The lifelong friends transformed the old Grocery Emporium into a vibrant taproom that showcases a variety of beer styles, alongside delicious wood-fired pizza and fresh salads.
Choosing Hamilton as their location was a no-brainer; it was home. With deep roots in the Bitterroot Valley and unwavering support from friends, family, and the community, it was the ideal place to bring their brewing vision to life.
The brewing team constructed much of the brewery themselves—most notably, a stunning 54-foot concrete bar—incorporating local ingredients, artwork, and the unique character of the Bitterroot Valley throughout the space.
Higherground Brewing Co. offers more than just craft beer and wood-fired pizza; it’s a gathering place shaped by local hands and shared history. Whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through Hamilton, it’s a place to slow down, connect, and feel part of something deeply rooted.

Dillon has been part of Higherground Brewing Co. since the beginning, growing alongside the brewery every step of the way. Starting as a dishwasher, he worked through every role in the kitchen before becoming General Manager, earning the position through dedication, leadership, and a passion for great beer and food.
When he’s not at the brewery, Dillon enjoys disc golf around Hamilton, skateboarding, and working on cars.

Kristian joined the Higherground team three years ago, starting in the kitchen as a pizza chef while also helping behind the scenes with brewing. His willingness to jump in wherever needed and his strong work ethic quickly made him a valued part of the team.
When he’s not at the brewery, Kristian enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan, and their son.

Corey is a longtime part of the Higherground family and a familiar face in the taproom. Having grown up in the Bitterroot Valley, he brings a strong sense of community and local pride to the brewery.
With more than a decade at Higherground, Corey helps keep the front of house running smoothly and makes sure guests feel welcome from the moment they walk in. Outside the brewery, he enjoys spending time outdoors and playing disc golf around the valley.
